Recommendation for Connecting 7-Way Vehicle-Side Connector to Trailer Hitch 2016 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I have a 2016 Toyota Highlander and would like to get the Curt hitch C13200 and Curt T-Connector 4 pole wiring harness C56217 and because I will be connecting a brake controller will need the Universal Installation kit for Trailer Brake controller 7 and 4 way ETBC7. However, it is not clear how I would mount the 7 way connector to the hitch itself. From the photos, I dont see anywhere on the hitch to mount the connector. Please advise if this is possible.

It is certainly possible to mount the 7-Way connector to the trailer hitch. The best option to mount the 7-Way connector from the # ETBC7 kit is to use the No-Drill Mount Bracket, Long # 18136. This bracket will mount around the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13200 with the included hose clamp. You will not need to drill into the hitch or other part of your vehicle to install the connector bracket.
I have attached an installation video of the # ETBC7 kit on a 2013 Toyota Highlander in which the use the # C57202 bracket to mount the connector.
You've done a great job finding all of the components you'll need to set up your 2016 Toyota Highlander in order to tow a trailer. The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # C13200, Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56217, and # ETBC7 kit will all work well for you on your 2016 Highlander.
If you need a trailer brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This brake controller is the most popular among our customers, and it is easy to see why. The Prodigy P3 pulls out all of the stops for a brake controller. This controller is a proportional controller that will apply the trailer brakes with the same force as the vehicle is stopping. It offers 5 storable settings, 3 boost levels, battery protections, continuous diagnostics, and an easy-to-read, user-friendly LCD display. The P3 will work with trailers that have electric brakes and those that have electric-over-hydraulic brakes. I've attached a review video of this controller for you.
