Will TorkLift Lock and Load SideKick Cargo Tray Work With Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850 Generator

Question:

After reading that the review specifically mentions the product fits specific Honda and Yamaha generators I have concerns it may not work with my Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850. The measurements for the Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850 are: 16 1/2inch height to top of handle 20inch length 11inch width Note: The handle is offset from long axes center. Its 7inch offset from one side and 4inch on the other side. That said, will this product work with my generator. If it does, I plan on purchasing the Curt front end hitch for my 2011 Ford F150 XL. Also, is the shaft of the generator mount long enough to be secured in the Curt hitch receiver? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The TorkLift Lock and Load SideKick Cargo Tray, part # TLA7901 will work with your Coleman Pulse 1850 generator based on the dimensions you gave me.

The minimum height for the # TLA7901 is 16-1/2 inches which you said your generator is. The tray measures 21-1/4 inches x 16-1/8 inches and with the offset handle on your generator will still work with the crossbar that secures the generator on the tray. This is designed to fit 2 inch receiver openings. The distance from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the tray is about 6 inches.

The front mount trailer hitch receiver I recommend is the Curt, part # C31068. This hitch will work great with the # TLA7901 tray. You will want to take a quick measurement to make sure there is enough clearance for the # TLA7901 tray to clear your front bumper. Just hold a yardstick or a dowel against the front edge of the bumper vertically until the straight edge is below the hitch. Then measure the distance from the hitch pin hole on the trailer hitch to the straight edge. That is the distance needed to clear the bumper. On a trailer hitch we installed on a 2014 F-150, the distance from the hitch pin hole to the front bumper was 8-1/2 inches, so you need at least 9 inches to make sure you clear the bumper.

Unfortunately we do not have any carriers that would have that much clearance but you can use a hitch extender like part # e88YR. This extends the receiver by 8 inches which will give you plenty of clearance. But please be advised, using any adapters in a hitch will reduce the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent.

To secure the tray in the front receiver I recommend a locking hitch pin like part # e98882. This is a stainless-steel flush design lock that features a covered key slot to help prevent corrosion and helps keep moisture out of the lock.
