Compatibility of Erikson Loading Ramps with Flat Trailer Deck

Question:

Do these ramps require a ledge or support of sorts under the Trailer end of them? or will the two welded angle protrusions on each ramp support up to 1600 lbs for the pair? I notice in the photos shown, most of the time, the top end of the ramps are resting on a ledge on the trailer. Is this a requirement for the ramps? I am asking this because my trailer does not have a lip or ledge below the trailer bed level to allow this. Thanks.

The Erickson steel ramps # EM07435 and the similar aluminum ramps # EM07434 have a bolted-on angled plate at the vehicle end that is designed to lay flat on the top surface of the truck bed when the ramp is extended for loading. Please refer to the linked photo. No special ledge or other surface is required beneath the trailer deck. The ramps do include safety chains to prevent them from shifting as you roll your load up onto them.

The maximum weight capacity of the Erickson Arched Loading Ramp Set # EM07435 is 1000-lbs total for the two ramps combined, or 500-lbs per ramp. In no application can these particular ramps handle 1600-lbs total.

If you need a 1600-lb capacity then I suggest the Erickson Arched Folding Loading Ramp Set # EM07464-2. This pair of ramps can handle 1600-lbs.
