I can certainly help you determine which line is the return line for your transmission fluid. Here is an easy way to figure if the top or the bottom line is the return for the transmission fluid.
1. With truck's engine cold, start the truck.
2. Shift transmission into Drive, but keep your foot on the brake.
3. With your foot on the brake, press the gas pedal to rev the engine.
4. Put truck in Park, stop engine, and remove keys.
5. Identify return line by carefully feeling both lines. The cooler of the two is the return line and the line you should use to install your # D13502 cooler.
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit will work well for your 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. I also recommend using the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM # D13035 to install the transmission cooler.
