Does the Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000 SR have a Load Holding Brake

Question:

I have been using portable winches for some time. The cheap ones I have purchased from Walmart and Tractor Supply work fine for a while then easily break so I am looking for something more reliable. My application is pulling a 580 lb. carriage up ramps into a van. Sometimes I need to stop and re-adjust the carriage on the ramps then resume pulling. I also need to let the carriage slowly down the ramps to the ground. Will this Winch 2 go work for me? Will a synthetic rope be less likely to cause bleedy hands than a frayed wire rope?

The Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000 SR, # SW1140232, does have a type of brake but is not designed to hold a load like other winches.

This winch does power in and out so you will be able to slowly lower the carriage. The synthetic rope will do less damage to your hands but it also comes with gloves so you are double-covered!

A better option would be a trailer utility winch # BDW15020 which does have a load-holding brake, synthetic rope, and it costs less than the Winch 2 Go. I have linked a video review of this winch for you.
