Would a 15k Fifth Wheel Hitch Tow a 2015 Rushmore Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 30 foot 5th Wheel RV and am pulling it with a 15K hitch. Today I purchased a 39 foot 2015 Rushmore 5th wheel. Will my 15K hitch still safely pull my new 5th wheel?

I pulled up the specs of your 39 foot 2015 Rushmore fifth wheel and it looks like it has a dry weight of 13k and a max loaded weight of 16.5k. What that means is that your 15k fifth wheel hitch will have the capacity for the trailer when it is unloaded but not when loaded to it's max.

A hitch like the Reese M5 part # RP30928 would work well as it has a 20k capacity. Or, if you have a short bed and need a slider hitch you can remove the legs of the M5 and install the # RP50024 to turn it into a slider.
