Comparing Tekonsha P2 And Primus Brake Controllers
Question:
I have 2003 1500 Silverado 4x4. Some years ago I installed a combination 4 pin 7 pin plug in trailer connector. I have purchased a tandem trailer with electric brakes on one axial. I would like you to recommend a low cost, easy to install get the job done brake controller for this setup. You just have to many to choose from. I dont mind spending what it takes but dont need the top of the heap. It will be occasional use. Thanks

The most popular brake controller we offer is the P2, part # 90885. This is our most popular because it is easy to install and operate. It does cost a little more than some of the other brake controllers but the customer reviews and comments are very positive for this controller.
To make this an easy to install item you need part # 3015-P. This adapter plugs into the back of the brake controller and the other end plugs into the junction box beneath your truck dashboard to the left of the steering column.
I have attached a link to an installation video for this controller and adapter you can check out.
For a less expensive option you can install the Primus brake controller, part # TK90160. This can work with the same # 3015-P adapter.
The P2 and the Primus have many things that are similar but some of the differences are the P2 has a brighter, LED display that is easier to read than the red LED display on the Primus, and the P2 also features a rotary lever for the manual braking feature, while the Primus uses an older style slide lever. Some customers who have purchased the Primus say that the slide lever style sticks a bit, depending on the angle from which they are trying to operate it. The P2 also has a 360-degree mounting range and the Primus has a limited 70-degree limit up from level.
