Bike Rack and Hitch Recommendation for a 2010 Ford Edge

Question:

I am planning to buy Thule trunk mountTH910XT for Ford Edge 2010. . I have a couple of questions. Will the rack damage the spoiler? We have 2 bikes which will create a lot of downward pressure. Will the bike create contact scratches on the car?

For carrying bikes at the rear of a vehicle I always will recommend going with a hitch mounted option vs. a trunk option for the reason you mentioned. Truck racks end up contacting the vehicle body which could potentially cause damage. Typically this isn't the case if the bike rack and vehicle are kept clean and the rack isn't overloaded. But it is still something to be cautious about.

Instead a hitch mounted option would be much more ideal.

The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out the review video I attached for more info.

For a hitch you would then want the Draw Tite part # 36447 which is a confirmed fit for your 2010 Ford Edge and would work well.

If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
