Adapting 5 Pole Flat Trailer Connector on Trailer to 4 Pole Connector on Tow Vehicle

have a trailer with 5 prongs on it but my truck has only 4 how to i fix this problem

It sounds like you're wanting to tow a boat trailer that has an inertia operated surge coupler. All you'd need is a 4 to 5-pole adapter, like part # 20036. The extra blue wire on the vehicle side would tap into the reverse lamp circuit on your vehicle, so that when the vehicle's transmission is placed in reverse, the blue wire powers up and releases a solenoid in the trailer coupler which allows you to back the trailer without the brakes being applied.
