Recommended Weight Distribution/Sway Control System for V-Nose Cargo Trailer
Question:
I was looking at this product by Equal-i-zer, Code: EQ37140ET. I have a 2011 Ford F250 and a Wells Cargo enclosed trailer with a V-Front. Can you tell me if this product will fit the trailer? I am not sure if the metal bars on the Equil-i-zer hitch will be too long to mount on the trailer frame before it hits the V portion of the trailer. Thank you,

The spring bar lift brackets for the Equal-i-zer 4-Point Weight Distribution System # EQ37140ET need to mount on the trailer's frame between 27- and 32-inches behind the hitch ball. The brackets fit trailer frames up to 6-inches tall.
The best option is probably the Reese Strait-Line # RP66130 along with alternate bracket kit # RP58305. These brackets can fit under your v-nose since they bolt on to the sides of the trailer frame. They fit frames up to 2-1/4-inches wide. With this system a TW of 1100-1200-lbs would be ideal. This system requires you to add a shank and hitch ball.
The key to choosing the right weight distribution/sway control (WD/SC) system is knowing your trailer's actual fully-loaded road-ready tongue weight (TW). We offer a simple-to-use scale # e99044 but other methods for measuring TW are noted in the linked article. To your measured trailer TW you will add the weight of anything in the back of the F-250 that sits behind the rear axle, say a loaded cooler or generator. With this total effective TW known you can choose the right system.
Ideally your total TW figure will fall right near the middle of the system's operating range. This will ensure good performance without any side-effects. For each system we indicate in the specs the TW range that works.
