What Wiring Harness Is Needed To Use The Factory Taillights As Towing Lights On A 1992 Jeep YJ
Question:
I am looking for a simple way to have my jeep factory taillights work as required taillights when the 1992 Jeep YJ is towed, by my excursion 4 wire flat connector.

You will need the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, # RM-154, which will give you everything you need to wire your Jeep YJ so the taillights will work as towing lights. It comes with diodes that will protect both vehicles wiring systems by preventing feedback.
The Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118356, is for installing a 4-Pole flat trailer connector on your 1992 Jeep YJ. It is a wiring harness that you would use to connect to a trailer if you were towing a trailer with your Jeep. It will not work to make your taillights on your Jeep operate as towing lights.
I am sending a video link of the Roadmaster diode wiring kit being installed in a 2005 Jeep Liberty. It is a different vehicle but it will give you an idea of the same basic wiring principle.
You will also want to check with the vehicle manufacturer to make sure if you will need anything extra when towing your 1992 Jeep YJ. Some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, driveline disconnect or free-wheeling hubs before they can be towed.
