How Does Brake Controller Install Harness for a 2013 Toyota Tacoma Ground
Question:
I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma with factory-installed tow package. I have ordered the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 controller and located the vehicles plug near the emergency brake. Where/how do I connect the ground wire to the truck frame? I found what look like studs near the vehicle brakes, can I just loosen one of those screws and install the ground there? I cannot tell how you do it from the picture you provide on the product page of your website at 3040-P I am mechanically challenged, I had hoped all I had to do was plug things in. Thanks!

The reason you have to also run a separate ground on the # 3040-P to install the P2 part # 90885 is because the ground of the harness just isn't quite sufficient enough for powering the brake controller.
If you watch the install video I attached that shows this harness installing a brake controller in a similar 2012 Tacoma you can see exactly how we grounded this harness. All you need to do is use a self tapping screw with a drill and run the ring terminal to the sheet metal right near where you found the harness.
For that you would need the part # FA1131822 for screw (may as well get a few). I know it seems like a difficult process but if you take your time it's not too hard. You will just need a drill and a socket for the bolt head. You will put the ring terminal on the screw's threads and then drill it to a sheet metal section of the vehicle.
