We have just what you are looking for.
The trailer hitch I recommend for your Mustang is the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch, part # 24928. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. I called my contact at Draw-Tite and asked about the GT Premium Convertible model to see if there were any issues with a trailer hitch. They told me that the # 24928 is listed as a fit for all models.
I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch on a 2015 Mustang. Since you can see the underside and rear end of the Mustang in the video you may want to check it our and see if there is any noticeable difference from your Mustang and if there is anything that would interfere with the installation of a hitch. The attached installation instructions have some pretty good photos you can take a look at as well.
If you plan on doing some light towing I recommend a ball mount like part # 3592. For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19256 and for a 2 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19258.
If you need a trailer wiring harness I recommend the tow Ready T-One harness, part # 118487. You just plug in the harness to the connection points behind the tail lights in the trunk, and run the hot lead wire to the car battery.
If you have other plans for using your trailer hitch let me know and I can make some recommendations that will work for you.
