I recommend beginning by testing your 7-Pin connector on your truck. You will want to use a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to ensure the plug has all of the functions working properly. I have attached a help article on trailer wiring that will help you determine the functions of each pin on the connector.
If you are not getting signal on all of the pins, you will want to check the fuses for those wires. If a fuse is bad, it will need to be replaced for the function to work properly at the connector.
If the fuses are good but the connector isn't testing properly, you can check the wires on your truck, working up from the connector, to ensure they are all in good shape and are not damaged.
If the 7-Pin connector tests and is functioning properly, you will want to plug in the adapter you are using and us the circuit tester on the adapter. If some of the pins aren't functioning on the adapter, then the adapter is bad.
If the adapter is also working properly, you will want to check your trailer wiring for a short. A short can be caused by any wires that are damaged, cut, pinched, torn, or exposed. If you find any damaged wiring, you can replace the section of damage wire to solve your issue.
If there are no shorts in the trailer wiring, you can check your trailer's ground. It is important that the trailer wiring is connected to the trailer frame where there is no rust or corrosion. If there is rust or corrosion at the trailer ground, try relocating the ground to a clean spot on the trailer frame.
If none of these steps provide a solution for you, feel free to let me know and we can look into further troubleshooting steps for you.
