Do I need some sort of lock to hold this hitch cover in place, or does it just snap in?

The Dont Tread On Me Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover, # HCC11562, does have a small plastic wish bone shaped clip designed to hold the cover in place. It is not necessarily the most secure connection and will not protect against theft. Instead, I recommend the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, # e98880, which offers the secure connection of a steel hitch pin with the theft deterrence of a lock.
