Curt Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Adapter for 2016 Ram 3500 with 5k Vertical Load Limit
Question:
Hello. I have a 2016 Ram 3500 Mega Cab dually on the way. Im looking for a sliding fifth wheel hitch it has the 6.5foot bed. My truck will have the factory fifth wheel prep. Im interested in the Curt roller A20 hitch with the Adapter rails for the RAM. Part#s C16541, C16022. Your website says the vertical load limit is 4,000 lbs, however the Curt Mfg website lists it as 5,000 lbs. I just wanted to verify that it is indeed 5,000 lbs. My fifth wheel has a pretty heavy pin weight, approaching 4,000 lbs. I would just like a little margin of safety. Im also in need of some advice about the hitch height. The above Curt hitch is adjustable between 17.5-21.5, while some of the Reese hitches are only ~13-17.5. I dont have my fifth wheel or truck yet, so Im not sure which hitch height will be best. Any suggestions? Thanks,

I checked with Curt and the A20 hitch part # C16541 that you referenced does have a 5,000 lb vertical load limit like you said you needed. This would work well with the Rail adapter part # C16022 to install in the bed of your 2016 Ram 3500 short bed.
This hitch does have a somewhat taller height adjustment, but without knowing the bed height of your truck and the height from the pin box mounting plate down the ground of your trailer when level it is hard to say if this would be the correct height. Most likely you would be fine though.
