Comparing Timbren and SumoSpring Rear Helper Springs for a 2000 Ford Excursion
Question:
I have a 2000 Ford Excursion 4WD V10 and will be towing a 24foot Fishing Boat on a tandem trailer. Which item would be better at keeping my Excursions rear end level, the Timbren Rear Enhancement System TFREXC4 or the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springsd Rear Vehicle Suspension SSR-109-40? What are your recommendation and thoughts on the benefits of each system for this vehicle?

Expert Reply:
If it were me I would install the Timbren springs # TFREXC4 on the 2000 Ford Excursion 4x4 instead of the SumoSprings # SSR-109-40. First is the cost benefit; the Timbren springs cost less. There is also the capacity difference. The Timbren springs are rated up to 6,000 pounds whereas the SumoSprings are rated up to 1,000 pounds.
While neither increases the actual towing capacity of the vehicle the fact that the Timbren springs are rated so much higher is an indication of the quality of the product and the confidence Timbren has in their performance.
And there is the warranty difference. The Timbren springs have a satisfaction guarantee and limited life-time warranty. The SuomSprings have a 2 year warranty. So for me Timbren is the way to go. I have included a link to our informational article on Timbren springs for you.
