Best Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2013 GMC Sierra
Question:
I would like to hear some recommendations on a trailer brake controller for my pickup. I recently purchased a 2013 Sierra with the trailer package and a tow rating of 9500 pounds. It did not come with the factory brake controller so I am looking to purchase one. I occasionally tow a 27foot travel trailer RV7500 lbs that is my parents. Otherwise just small trailers that generally dont have trailer brakes. I am looking to get a good controller, it seems proportional is the way to go vs time delayed, and dont want to spend a ton of money being it wont be used more than 10 times a year. If I set a budget of $100 what would you recommend? If it is really worth it to spend another $25-$50 I would consider it, but not sure if its worth it based on my little use of it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
Even though this controller is slightly out of your price range it really is worth. Plus, for your 2013 GMC Sierra you wouldn't have to buy a install harness either since your truck requires the controller get hardwired to the 4 blunt cut wires under your dash.
This controller will end up being the last brake controller you ever buy because of how well it works and because of it's lifetime warranty.
I attached an install video that shows it being installed in a 2013 Silverado just like yours too.
