Brake Controller and Install Harness Recommendation for a 2016 Jeep Cherokee with Tow Package

Question:

I recently purchased a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude with factory tow package. I am interested in installing a trailer brake controller. I do not see any plug-in connectors listed. Does the Cherokee have a port for a plug-in connector? I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee and it has a factory installed port. If no factory port, do you have installation instructions for the Cherokee? Thanks!

For your 2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude with the factory tow package there is a brake controller install harness that has been confirmed as a fit. If you go with a brake controller like the very popular P2 part # 90885 the correct install harness would be the # 3014-P.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.

I attached an install video that shows this controller being installed in a 2015 Cherokee very similar to yours.
