How To Easily Grease Trailer Hub Without EZ Lube Spindle
Question:
My axle does not have the easy lube feature. I have already installed the axle and am happy with it other than not having the ez lube feature. Can I drill a hole in the hub, put in a zerk fitting to lube the axle?

I have a solution for you, but I do not recommend attempting to drill into the spindle to install a zerk fitting. Instead, I recommend using Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors to help make greasing your trailer axles easier. The Bearing Buddy will replace the grease cap in the axle hub to provide an easily accessible grease fitting.
In order to determine the correct Bearing Buddy for you trailer, you will want to use a digital caliper, like # PTW80157, to measure the hub bore of your trailer's hubs. Finding the hub bore measurement to the nearest thousandth of an inch is the most accurate way to determine the correct Bearing Buddy for you.
For example, if the hub bore measures 1.980 inches, you will want to use the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors, Model 1980A-SS # BB1980A-SS. I have attached a link to all of the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors that we offer, as well as a video showing the installation of a Bearing Buddy for you.
