Troubleshooting Brake Output Circuit that Stopped Working After Install of 5th Wheel Wiring

Question:

I recently purchased a Hopkins Endurance 5th wheel 90 degree wiring harness with 7 pole plug with factory 7 way for my 2015 2500 Silverado from etrailer. WE started on a trip for the first time and after about 100 miles the trailer brakes quit working. I unplugged from inside the bed and plugged into factory 7 way. Lights worked but not the brakes. I disconnected the Hopkins wiring and plugged trailer into factory connection and brakes worked. I had this same type wiring in the past on another truck with no problems. Got any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks,

Sorry to hear about the issue you are having with the Hopkins Fifth Wheel 90 degree harness part # 41157. It sounds like one of the connectors of this harness wasn't all the way engaged and the movement from you towing allowed the connectors to work themselves loose enough that you lost the brake output circuit.

Try reinstalling the harness again making sure that each connection is fully seated and it should work. Also visually inspect the pins of each connector to make sure there are no bent or broken pins.
