Best Trunk Mounted Bike Rack for a 2016 Volvo XC60

Hello, I need to know which is the best trunk mount bike rack for my new 2016 Volvo XC60. I also have a list of requirements that I need answered. 1 Will I be able to open the trunk with the trunk mount bike rack installed? 2 Will the hooks damage or scratch the vehicles surface? 3 Which ones fold up and store compactly into the trunk when not utilized? We have a great trunk mounted bike rack that has been confirmed to fit your vehicle, but I cannot safely recommend you open the trunk of your 2016 Volvo XC60 with a trunk mounted bike rack installed. The hooks of the bike rack could potentially bind up against painted surfaces of the vehicle which could dent or scratch paint, plus the hinges of your trunk aren't designed for that heavy of a load to be put on them.

The nicest rack we offer that has been confirmed as a fit is the Thule OutWay part # TH45JV which can easily fold up to fit in your truck and as long as you don't exceed the capacities of the rack (33 lbs per bike), you shouldn't have any problems with the rack damaging anything. You also want to keep the rack and vehicle as clean as possible to help protect the paint.

What makes this rack far superior to the others is the attachment system. It uses 4 retractable coated steel cables to attach to the vehicle rather than 6 nylon straps like other racks. This makes installation quick and easy and the cables also last longer.

The cables store inside the rack so there are no loose straps ends to flap around. The cables can also be locked into position to deter theft of the rack. And there is also an integrated cable lock in the last bike position to deter bike theft.

This rack also features the latest and greatest in cradles. The cradles have road dampening technology which protects bike frames better than other cradles.
