Best Ground Clearance Hitch for a 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon that Doesn't Require Stabilizer Strap
Question:
Hi, my interest is in 2015 outback hitches. Looking for info on some points: 1. no drill mounting possibilitytaking off rear bumper not a problem, 2. Ground clearance want high, 3. distance from bumper, which would be deepest. 4. do all level 2 require support straps for external gear, how about using level 3 with 2 to 1.25 adapter for towing and gear? any free movement to expect or its a frame itself twisting under load? Would be best if you could provide with measurements of all models, that would make me easer to decide. Thank you.

Drilling is required for installation of all of the hitches for a 2015 Subaru Outback wagon. For max ground clearance a 1-1/4 inch hitch is going to be the best option. The smaller hitch size allows for better ground clearance. Since Curt is the only manufacturer that requires the stabilizer strap then the Draw Tite part # 36493 would be the best option. It's going to have about 13 inches of ground clearance and the hitch pin hole will be right at 5 inches from the rear bumper.
As long as you install the hitch properly and do not exceed any capacities you wouldn't have to worry about movement or twisting of the hitch. This has a tongue weight rating of 300 lbs.
I attached an install video for this hitch on a 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon as yours for you to check out as well.
