5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, Install Kit, and Air Bag Recommendations for 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500
Question:
I own a 2015 Chevy 2500 with the duramax diesel, full dual door cab with 6 1/2 foot box. What hitch and rails should I use for a fifth wheel weighing in at 15135 . Do you recommend air bags also.

For your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed I recommend a custom 5th wheel installation kit # RP50066-58 because there is less drilling required and they install in less time compared to universal kits.
The rails don't have a capacity (they match the towing capacity of the truck) so the 15K 5th wheel won't be a problem. There are many possible configurations of your truck so I urge you to check the manual for the specific towing capacity of your model.
For a hitch that will fit the rails and have enough capacity for your trailer (without cutting it too close) I recommend the Curt A20 slider # C16541. This hitch is rated for 20,000 pounds and has a cushioned head for smoother ride.
You can use air bags with this hitch and installation kit installed. Air bags will help prevent sagging and it will help with overall ride quality. I recommend the Firestone system # F2613. Its brackets mount to the inboard side of the frame which is the opposite side that the 5th wheel brackets install on so there won't be any interference!
