Cargo Box Recommendation that Will Not Interfere with Rear Hatch on 2016 Subaru Outback

Question:

will I be able to open the rear hatch of my 2016 Subaru outback,and will it fit our factory crossbars,and last question is how high will it sit above crossbars.

The SportRack Horizon Rooftop Cargo Box # SR7011 will physically mount to the factory crossbars on your 2016 Subaru Outback but this box is so long at 88-1/2 inches that rear hatch interference is likely. The top box will be about 15 inches above the crossbars on the vehicle. I recommend going with a different box to avoid hatch clearance issues.

Take a look at the Yakima RocketBox Pro 14 # Y07192. It is a little shorter and has enough adjustability so that the rear hatch would not be a problem so I recommend it. Check out the video I have linked showing the box (and opening the hatch) on a 2015 Outback (same generation as 2016) with factory crossbars. Its a perfect fit! This box also is approximately 15 inches above the crossbars.
