Expert Reply:
Hopkins Plug-N-Tow (R) Vehicle Wiring Harness # 41165 includes a converter module that processes the lighting signals from your 2011 GMC Canyon before sending them on to your trailer. This module will be damaged if fed lighting signals from a motorhome.
Before you flat tow the Canyon unplug the trailer harness # 41165 and plug in the Flat Towing harness # HM56109.
You will also want to check your GMC owner's manual for any instructions regarding preparing the vehicle for flat towing. The linked article on towing a vehicle may also be of interest as it outlines all of the components required for safe and legal flat towing.
