Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller on 2000 Range Rover HSE
Question:
I have no current trailer wiring whatsoever but want to tow a trailer braked trailer. I have a 4 wire adapter kit from Atlantic British came with the vehicle, not installed yet. I assume I also need a controller like Tekonsha Prodigy P3 and an ETBC7 Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires. Correct? My question is, the Rover dealer has quoted me to install the appropriate 7-pin wiring but I dont know if that wiring eliminates the need for an external brake controller. Do you know?? Thanks!

If the trailer you're wanting to pull has electric brakes, and you want them to operate, you will need a brake controller. Having a dealer-installed 7-way won't eliminate the need for a brake controller.
It sounds as if you've got a good handle on what you need. I'm not sure what '4 wire adapter kit ' you're speaking of consists of, but if it provides a 4-pole trailer connector for your Range Rover, the only other parts you'd need are the # ETBC7 brake controller installation kit you referenced and the Prodigy P3 brake controller, part # 90195.
I've linked you to an FAQ article about brake controllers, as well as to the instructions for the # ETBC7 kit.
