5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Ram 2500 Short Bed with Factory Prep Package

Question:

I had a 2007 Ram 6 foot box Diesel with a 27SAB 2012 Cougar Lite and had no turning issues with a RBW 15k hitch. I have a new 2015 3500 6 foot bed and will need a new 5th wheel hitch as the RBW will not fit the adapter that I got with the prep package. I want to return that and get a hitch that works as good with the current 5th wheel camper with my primary concern is to ensure I have good clearance between the cab and the camper. The new Rams come with a mega cab so I am concerned did I lose any distance between the cab and the center of the axle so do I need a different hitch or can I go with a standard hitch. I see you offer OEM 5th Hitches that are made for the Ram prep packages. Look for your advance and based on the reviews looks like this is where I would buy my new hitch from thanks

What I recommend for your 2015 Ram 3500 with the short bed is a slider hitch that offers the most travel so that clearance is not an issue when turning. For that I recommend the Demco HiJacker # DM8550034. This hitch offers 14 inches of travel and slide automatically so you won't have to get in an out of the truck to activate the sliding mechanism.

To use this hitch with your Ram's factory prep package you will also need # DM6099. I have linked a video review of the hitch for you.

You can also use the Reese # RP30918, which will drop right into your Ram's prep package with no adapters needed.
