Weight Distribution for Jayco Trailer Over 9,000 Pounds and 2015 Ford F-150

Question:

Looking at purchasing a weight distribution setup for my 2015 Ford F150 Crew Cab. I will be pulling a 33.5 foot long Jayco trailer with a tongue weight of 660 and empty trailer weight of 6540 with a max of 9250. I might have some camp wood in the truck bed from time to time adding a little weight. I will be pulling cross country and want a great setup that I can back up with without unhooking. From what I can see the RP66084 looks like it is a good setup. Will this work for me or do you have another suggestion? Thanks!

Based on the empty tongue weight of 660 pounds the maximum tongue weight is estimated at 930 pounds on your Jayco trailer. The Reese Strait-Line system # RP66084 is rated for 600 to 1,200 pounds tongue weight so it is a good fit for your trailer.

You mentioned carrying wood in the truck bed so if any of that weight is behind the rear axle then it gets calculated into the tongue weight of the trailer. If that pushes the tongue weight over 1,200 pounds then you would need to go with the next highest rated system, # RP66130, rated for 800 to 1,500 pounds tongue weight.

The 600 to 1,200 pound system comes with a shank. The included shank has a max rise of 7 inches and max drop of 1-1/4 inches. Other shanks are available separately if more rise or drop is needed.

The 800 to 1,500 pound system does not come with a shank so I have linked the compatible shanks for you.

Neither system comes with a ball. For a 2-5/16 inch ball I recommend # 19286 for the 1,200 pound system or # C40086 for the 1,500 pound system.
