Best Fifth Wheel Setup Recommendation for a 2016 Ram 2500 with Rambox and Air Suspension

Question:

I plan on ordering a new Ram 2500 4x4 diesel with air suspension and ram boxes. What 5th wheel hitch will work with this truck. I understand I need a sidewinder to protect the ramboxes and that it should be a nonslider.

Since air suspension can complicate the install of a fifth wheel hitch rail kit I would strongly recommend you get the factory fifth wheel rail kit installed on your 2016 Ram 2500.

For a hitch the B and W Companion part # BWRVK3600 is going to be the best option. This hitch is often regarded as the nicest fifth wheel hitch available so it would be the one we recommend highly for you. It is also designed to fit the rail kit of your truck without the use of an adapter.

Since you want the Ramboxes you will need a Sidewinder like you referenced. The correct one will be based on the trailer you have though.

You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.

I have a 2020 Ram 2500 6.4" bed with the factory puck system in it, what hitch will I need to run a 5th wheel without turning problems? Thanks in advance.

Any of the sliding 5th wheel hitches in the attached link will give you enough turning clearance, but I recommend going with the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 18K # DM8550034 or 21K # DM8550035 with the Adapter Rail Kit # DM6099 because it means you don't have to get in and out of your truck to mess with a manual slide hitch.
