To install a 4-pole trailer connector on your 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo, I'd recommend part # 18252. This trailer connector would need to be tapped into the existing taillight circuits but the included circuit tester would make installing the trailer connector pretty simple.
You'll need a helper to sit in the driver's seat for you. Begin by accessing the rear of the taillight assemblies as you would if you were changing a burned out taillight bulb. Find the vehicle's taillight wiring harness that feeds the driver's side taillight assembly. Have your helper activate the left turn signal and ground the alligator clip of the tester to body metal on the inside of the trunk and pierce each wire in the taillight harness until you locate the wire that makes the tester blink. Tap the yellow connector wire into this circuit. Next, have the helper turn on the headlights. Probe the wires until you find the one that lights the tester. Tap the brown wire into that circuit. Ground the white wire to a metal surface of the body inside the trunk. Now, have your helper turn on the right turn signal and tap the green wire into that circuit once you locate the correct wire.
The Mote Carlo and the 2007 Impala use different taillight assemblies, so the # 118417 that fits the 2007 Malibu wouldn't work on the Monte Carlo.
