Hitch-Mounted Folding Cargo Carrier for 2006 Ford E-350 Van

Question:

I need to get a hitch mounted cargo carrier for a 2006 Ford 350 15 passenger van. The van we have now is used mostly for passenger transport, we need something to haul coolers, tents, cots, etc., for camping/fishing trips. Year: 2006 Make: FORD Model: E350 ECONOLINE Description: 15 PAX I saw a couple different models that had the fold up feature, I would like to get one of those if possible.

For a carrier that provides a good match to your hitch you'll want to check the tongue weight (TW) rating of the hitch on the van. This should be noted on it's safety/warning sticker. The total combined weight of the carrier itself plus your loaded cargo cannot exceed the TW limit of the hitch.

For a large heavy-duty carrier I suggest the 20x59-inch Curt # C18151 which is shown in the linked video. This 70-lb carrier features built-in reflectors, 2-inches of rise in the shank for improved ground clearance and a durable powder-coat finish. To stabilize and lock the carrier I recommend using the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 from Let's Go Aero.

You may also care to add a cargo net such as # C18201 and/or a set of tie-down straps such as # IMF12637 to help secure your loaded cargo. Be sure that your loaded items do not block the vehicle's taillights.
