Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Works with Override Lever but Not With Brake Pedal

Question:

Got green light when hooked to trailer, manual operation by hand red light and can feel brakes working when used when rolling but can not get light to turn orange or red for set up and brakes not working when brake pedal is pressed

Sounds like your brake controller # 5504 is properly connected with the exception of the red wire of the controller that needs to run to a circuit that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied.

You will want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to find the circuit near your brake pedal switch that only sees 12 volts when the brakes are on and none when released.
