Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2016 BMW X1

Hi, do you have an image showing how this trailer hitch will look like assembled to a 2016 BMW X1? Will the main structure be hidden behind the bumper? Thank you

Yes, I can provide a picture of Curt trailer hitch # C13303 installed on a 2016 BMW X1. You can see in the picture that only the receiver is visible and the rest is hidden behind the fascia of the 2016 BMW X1. I have also linked the instructions that have some pictures.

If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

And for trailer wiring I recommend # 119250KIT. This set up will allow you to install a wiring harness without having to cut and splice into the vehicle wiring!

How does that wiring harness (# 119250KIT) attach on a 2016 BMW X1? Is it below the vehicle or inside the vehicle?

We actually now have a custom harness available for your 2016 BMW X1 with the Tekonsha # 118717. This will allow for a MUCH easier install process by simply plugging in-line behind the tail lights (no splicing wires). The only other step is to run the hot lead up to the battery, which will be routed outside and underneath the vehicle. I linked a full install video below that you can also follow along with.
