Recommended Fifth Wheel Installation Kit For 2014 Ram 1500 Crew Cab With 5-1/2 Ft Bed
Question:
Just bought a 24 ft 5th wheel that 1,200 pin weight and 6,600 dry weight. Is my 2014 Ram 1500 Crew Cab ok to pull this trailer? The truck says it has 1,618 payload capacity. Also have the Reese pro series 15k slider hitch, will this provide enough cab clearance since my bed is only 57inch 67in.?

I did some research and found that your Ram 1500 has a 10,500-lb towing capacity for a fifth wheel trailer so you will have no problem towing your trailer that weighs 6,600 lbs.
You will run into problems with clearance if you rely on your Reese 15K sliding fifth wheel hitch. There will just not be enough clearance for sharp turns. Our best recommendation is to lock your sliding fifth wheel in the tow position and replace the pin box on your trailer with a Sidewinder. There should be a sticker or plate on the pin box of the trailer, and you can use the chart in the attached helpful article to find the correct replacement Sidewinder.
If you have air suspension in your Ram, we do not have a fifth wheel installation kit. They are working on them and will release them in the near future but they are not available yet.
If you do not have air suspension then you will need 2 items to install the fifth wheel. You will need part # RP58523. These are the semi-custom mounting brackets for a fifth wheel hitch that specifically designed for your truck.
You will also need part # RP30035-023. This is the installation kit for a fifth wheel and includes the base rails for the bed of the truck. The only thing you will not use in this kit are the L-brackets. The RP5823 brackets are used instead.
