Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier Recommendation for 2016 Jeep Wrangler that Allow Rear Door to Open

Question:

Hi Looking for a cargo hitch carrier. I have a factory installed, 2 inch hitch on my 2016 Wrangler Unlimited with 245/17 spare tire. Are their any carriers that you can recommend that will 1 allow you to open the back gate for access with the carrier attached after removing whatever I am hauling 2 can also fold up without interference from the tire? 1 being most important and 2 being nice to have. I am mostly hauling extra beach gear around in the summer.

We test fit a several hitch cargo carriers on a similar 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and we found that the Curt # C18145 and the # PS1040100 allowed the rear cargo door to open over the carrier.

I wish either of them folded up, but none of the folding carriers we offer would have the clearance to fold up around the spare. But the two options I listed will satisfy you primary interest. Check out the review videos I attached to see that they will fit and clear.
