16k Slider Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2016 Ram 2500 Short Bed with Factory Rail Kit
Question:
I have a 2016 Ram 2500 short bed with factory puck system. I would like to use BandW MODEL 3600 but dont need a 25 K hitch. Can a 16k hitch head be swapped out to use the OEM base and if so, which one would you suggest?

Since you have a short bed 2016 Ram 2500 with the rail kit you will need to go with a slider fifth wheel hitch to allow you to make tight turns. Since you are looking for a 16k hitch the Reese 16k Slider Hitch part # RP30075 would be a great option. This hitch has an excellent jaw design that will provide 360 degrees of contact for a quiet, smooth ride and features a round tube slider that will operate smoother than a square tube.
To install this hitch in your rail kit you will need the Ram OEM adapter part # RP30154 too. This will fit the rail kit in your truck and then will provide you with a rail kit for the hitch.
I attached review videos for both of these products for you to check out as well.
For a 7-way to install in the bed of your truck to make connecting your trailer lights easier you would want the part # 41157. Most 7-ways will be at the rear of the truck near the bumper which doesn't work will with fifth wheel hitches.
