Will The Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack Fit On A Class II And A Class III Hitch

Question:

In the description that you guys give it says that the Stickup 2 will work with either class 2 or class 3, but further down it says class 2 only. I have a class 3 so Im wondering if it will indeed work.

A 2 inch hitch is a Class III and Class IV hitch. If you have a Class III hitch then you have a 2 inch hitch and the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack, # Y02443, will fit into a Class III hitch with no problem.

The Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack, # Y02445, will fit on 1-1/4 inch hitches. The 1-1/4 inch hitch comes in Class I and Class II ratings. The difference is the Class I hitch has a 200 lbs. tongue weight capacity and the Class II hitch has a 300 lb. or 350 lb. tongue weight capacity.

Also a Class II hitch accessory is a longer shank so it will not fit in a Class I hitch. The reason is to keep somebody from overloading a Class I hitch.

That is why further down in the description it says Class II only, it is meaning that it will fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch but it has to be a Class II hitch only, not a Class I hitch.

You will also want to measure on your vehicle the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch to the farthest point back on your vehicle. This will be able to tell you if the bike rack will clear the back of your vehicle when installed.

On the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Racks that measurement is 12 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the first wheel tray or 6 inches with the rack folded up. So if the measurement on your vehicle is less then those measurements then this bike rack will fit.
