Looking For Lightweight Cargo Carrier With Good Ground Clearance
Question:
I am purchasing the 75217 trailer hitch. I dont know what kind of cargo trailer I need? First. I have 16 Mazda cx5 with 10 1/2inch to bumper plus 4inch for receiver and have a steep driveway. There will only be a 5inch clearance on the receiver at the bottom of the driveway. I dont think a cargo will clear unless it has a rise. I like the folding but dont think as sturdy as regular. I have bad shoulders so can only left around 40# The cargo is for trips, soil, plants, mulch, etc. Help!!

It sounds like you're looking for a cargo carrier.
Due to the steep driveway, you'll need a carrier with the tallest rise available, like the Curt 20x48 Cargo Carrier # C18110. The carrier features an angled shank that will raise the cargo platform up by 3-3/4inches. This carrier comes in at 30 pounds by itself, which fits your needs.
This cargo carrier will fit well in the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76138 on your 2016 Mazda CX-5. When we installed this hitch on a CX-5, we found that the center of the hitch pin hole sits 3 inches behind the bumper. The edge of the # C18110 cargo carrier sits 11-1/8 inches from the hitch pin hole so this carrier will work well for you.
