Fifth Wheel Towing w/ 2013 Ram 3500 With Rambox Option

Question:

I have a 2013 Ram 3500 with 6foot 4inch box with the Rambox option. What fifthwheel hitch do I need? I understand the lever on the slide presents an issue due to lack of clearance so is a shorter handle an option?

Originally, Reese's official stance on the matter was that Dodge Ram trucks equipped with the Ramboxes can't be used for fifth wheel towing, because the Ramboxes make the inside dimension of the bed narrower than usual, so the fifth wheel pin box will very likely strike the inside of the bed rails.

This has recently changed. They're now saying that using a Sidewinder makes fifth wheel towing possible by moving the pivot point far enough rearward (22 inches). You'd use a stationary, not a sliding fifth wheel hitch

To install a 7-way in the truck bed, use # 41157. I've linked to an install video.

Sidewinders are pin box specific, in order to recommend the correct model for you I would need the manufacturer and model number of the existing pin box. This information can typically be found on a plate or sticker somewhere on the pin box.

I have linked you to an FAQ article about Sidewinders. The article includes a list of pin box manufacturers/models and which Sidewinder model each pin box would use.
