High-Capacity Hitch for 2012 Ford F-150 SuperCab EcoBoost with Factory Tow Package
Question:
I have a 2012 Ford f-150 SuperCab with 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine. It has a tow package with factory wiring and a brake controller and a 2 inch bumper hitch. It does not have the max towing package. I believe the capacity without weight distribution is 5000 pounds with 500 pounds of tongue weight. What can I do to up the capacity - 10000 + 1000. I dont see anything on your website for a hitch of that capcity that is compatible with a truck with the factory hitch.

The hitches offered for any given vehicle are rated based on the capacity of the vehicle's frame structure and other features. The vehicle maker will determine the tongue weight (TW) and gross towing weight (GTW) ratings and hitch makers design their hitches for that vehicle to more or less match what the vehicle can do. Bolting a 10K hitch onto a 5K-rated vehicle results in a 5K rating for the entire system.
We do offer a high-capacity TorkLift hitch for your truck, part # TLF1005H, that fits short bed models with the factory hitch rated for 10.5K. It will NOT fit trucks with a factory hitch rated for 11.5K. When used with weight distribution this hitch's ratings increase to 1500-lbs TW and 15K towing weight. This hitch bolts on using included hardware - no drilling or welding required.
