For the U.S. model Sidekick we offer base plates from Roadmaster and Blue Ox that you can view by clicking on the link provided. In general I recommend staying with one brand for your tow bar and base plates. This avoids the cost and complexity of added adapters that are needed to join one brand of tow bar to another brand of base plate.
The Roadmaster XL Base Plate kit # 1422-1 fits versions of the Jeep Liberty for model years 2002 through 2005. It does not fit any other Jeep vehicles and will not fit on your 1996 Suzuki Sidekick 2-door.
If you have a Roadmaster tow bar like their Tracker # RM-020 then you can use base plate kit # 118-15. If you have a Blue Ox tow bar like their Acclaim # BX4330 then you can use base plate kit # BX3508.
Safe and legal flat towing also requires a number of other components in addition to the tow bar and base plates: safety cables, a wiring/lighting solution, a supplemental braking system and often a high/low hitch adapter and wiring extension too. The linked article gives you background on all of these items.
For safety cables I like the coiled Roadmaster kit # RM-643 since the coiled design keeps them from dragging on the ground. For a braking system use SMI # SM99243 which requires only a one-time set-up. For lighting use kit # TL21RK which features magnetic bases for easy installation without splicing wires. For a high/low adapter to keep your tow bar level you can refer to the linked page.
