Will the Pro Series Cargo Carrier 63153 Fit a 2006 Honda Odyssey and Not Get Hot from Exhaust
Question:
I had a friend that used a hitch carrier to make a trip to colorado. He loved the convenience of it, except the straps on his cargo bag melted because of the exhaust. I noticed the 63153 has an offset that allows the carrier to be a little higher. Have you heard of any exhaust problems with this carrier and the Honda Odyssey?

You would be fine to use the Cargo Carrier part # 63153 on your 2006 Honda Odyssey. The rise in the shank will put the basket up 2-1/2 inches above the hitch opening. Also, the exhaust on your vehicle will be around 6 inches from the outside of the rear bumper. This carrier has 12-3/4 inches of clearance between the hitch pin hole and the nearest portion of the basket. It just so happens that the exhaust on your vehicle is about the same distance under bumper as the hitch pin hole when we installed a hitch on your vehicle. (see video).
You would end up with more than enough clearance to not have to worry about the exhaust melting anything.
