What is the Height Adjustment Range for the Curt A16 Fifth Wheel Hitch

Question:

Is the listed height adjustment of 17.5inch to 21.5inch correct on this hitch? It seems to be a much taller hitch than most. I like the features of this hitch but am concerned it maybe to tall. I see there was a question asked and the answer from you guys stated it hitch at its highest setting was 18.5inch which doesnt match the height listed. I will be installing this hitch in a 2006 F250 and pulling a 2015 Keystone Cougar 29RBS.

The Curt # C16521 5th wheel hitch you mentioned is indeed height adjustable from 17-1/2 to 21-1/2 inches in height. Some of the bed sides on todays trucks are pretty tall (like the Ford F Series), so the hitch heights needed to increase as well.

To determine the necessary hitch height so your 5th wheel tows level, jack the 5th wheel so it's level. Measure from the bottom of the skid plate to the ground (not the king pin). Then measure the height of the truck's bed from the ground. Finding the difference between these two tells you the height the fifth wheel hitch in the bed needs to be. Keep in mind that you'll want at least 6 inches of clearance between the top of the bed sides and the underside of the trailer loft.

Keep in mind that many fifth wheel pin boxes are height adjustable, as well.
