Which Wheels Should Chains Be Installed on for Dual Rear Wheels on Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

Question:

Hello, I have a Mercedes Sprinter 3500 dually wheels. If I chain up, do I need to chain up both back wheels on either side, or is it OK to just chain up the outer wheels?

When installing tire chains on a vehicle with dual wheels, you can install chains on both wheels or either the inside or outside wheel. However you decide to mount the chains, they need to be mounted the same on both sides. If they are only mounted on the outer wheel on one side, they should only be mounted on the outer wheel on the other side.

Using chains on both of the dual rear wheels will provide the most traction.

I recommend checking the owner's manual of your 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 to ensure that any guidelines set out in the manual are followed for tire chains.

If the tires on your Sprinter are size 215/85-16, the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Dual Tires # TC4819 that you referenced will work great for your vehicle's dual rear wheels.

If you have a different tire size on your Sprinter and would like to let me know the correct size, I will be happy to make a tire chain recommendation for you.
