Recommended Adapter For Thule T2 Bike Carrier With 1-1/4 Inch Shank For 2 Inch Trailer Receiver
Question:
I have a SUV with a 2inch hitch receiver and also have the Thule T2 TH9045 bike rack already. I understand you recommend the Brophy HT02, but I have to wonder if there is an adaptor that just slides into the existing receiver, ends flush with the existing receiver end adds no length and uses the same hole in the receiver to place a pin through the receiver and sleeve. I dont want to leave this unit unlocked, and with the HT02 system I would have to have two locking pins instead of one and it sticks out further making the whole rig less user friendly in parking lots etc. What can I do? This seems very simple and I dont understand why multiple holes/pins are needed to just fit a simple sleeve inside an existing receiver. Can you help?

Thule does not offer a flush mount sleeve for the TH9045 bike shank so that it fits a 2 inch receiver opening. Some of the bike carriers we offer have an adapter sleeve that allows you to use the bike rack on both 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch receivers. The TH9045 is not one of them.
The # HT02 adapter sleeve is the shortest adapter we offer to get the fit you are looking for. You would need an additional locking hitch pin to make sure the rack is secured to the vehicle.
The locking hitch pin I recommend is part # e98882. This stainless steel lock comes with a cover for the key slot to help keep dirt and moisture out of the lock.
