A sliding fifth wheel hitch is needed for trucks that do not have a full length bed when hauling a fifth-wheel trailer. A full-size 8-ft bed does not require the sliding fifth wheel or an extended pin box on the trailer. If you tow a trailer with a truck that has a bed shorter than 8-ft you run the risk of hitting the cab of the truck with the trailer when executing sharp turns. I have attached a helpful article that explains fifth wheel hitches you can check out.

For your 2015 F-150 with the 6-1/2 ft bed I recommend the Reese Sliding 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # RP30051. This fifth wheel hitch features a dual-jaws that wrap around the king pin and reduce rattle and vibration.

For an installation kit I recommend part # RP50087-58. This installation kit reduces the installation time by half when compared to standard fifth wheel kits. I have attached links to a couple videos you can check out.
