Question:
i just installed a hopkins 48895 taillight converter on my 82 nissan pickup, and i checked all wires on truck with voltmeter to make sure i was hooking the right wires together. when i turn the signals on i am just getting a solid light no blinking, does this mean the converter is bad or some other problem?

For starters, I'd review the installation. Use your voltmeter or a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to probe the taillight circuits. Activate the left turn signal, and probe the wires until you find the wire that makes the tester blink or voltage pulse. Tap the yellow converter wire into that circuit. Do the same for the left turn, tap the green wire into that circuit. Push the brake pedal, and test the wires. Tap the red wire into the circuit that goes hot when the brake pedal is pressed. Activate the running lights, probe the wires until you find the signal and tap the brown wire into that circuit. Makes sure the white ground wire is securely grounded to clean, bare metal on the vehicle. Also ensure that the white ground wire from the trailer connector is grounded to the trailer frame, usually on the trailer tongue.
If all this checks out, please get back with me and we'll look into some other less common things that might be causing the problem.
