Fifth Wheel and Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2016 Ram 2500 without Rail Kit

Question:

I have a 2016 Ram 2500 Mega Cab it has a ball installed. I hAVE A 5TH wheel 34 foot my old truck had a slider hitch, i want to convert the trailer to fit the ball. What do i need to make this happen, do i need to offset ball?? Thank you,

The issue you are going to have is that a short bed truck would not have enough clearance to allow a fifth wheel trailer to make tight turns. Not even with an offset ball. If you install a fifth wheel adapter on your trailer it wouldn't be able to make tight turns with your truck.

You are going to have to install a fifth wheel rail kit so that you can use a slider hitch.

The best fifth wheel hitch I would recommend is the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550034. This hitch will automatically slide back as you make tight turns.

For a custom fifth wheel rail kit you would want the Demco part # DM8552025-71. This custom kit will install in less time than a universal kit and will minimize drilling.
