Magnetic Heater for the Oil Pan on a Log Splitter Motor
Question:
So I take it this is manetic. I would like to use something like this on my log splitter. It has a large tank 6x6x3 inches 1/4inch thick mild steel. Quite a heavy mass to heat up in our below zero winters. My question is, am I looking at the right kind of product is there something that would work better, or am I in for a long winter.

The Kat's Heaters Oil Pan Heating Pad # KH24050 attaches to the oil pan with 3M tape. I have included a picture that shows the back of the heater where it attaches to the oil pan. If you want something that is magnetic I recommend # KH1155 which does have a magnetic base.
This magnetic heater puts out 300 to 400 degrees and was specifically designed for small engines like the one on your log splitter. At 1/4 inch thick, it won't be instantly warm but at 300 to 400 degrees it would not take long.
